Honda Vezel

The Honda Vezel (RU1/RU3 generation, also sold as HR-V in some markets) is one of the most common compact SUVs in Sri Lanka's used-import hire market. Operators including Casons, Lanka Holidays, MySL Travel, and Sri Lanka Private Driver all list it. The 1.5L hybrid gives strong fuel economy; the AWD variant on the hybrid provides extra traction on wet or steep sealed roads.

Ground clearance is 170 mm — better than any sedan in the fleet and enough to handle the hill country sealed roads with noticeably more confidence. The same practical limit applies: all sealed tourist routes are fine, but unpaved safari tracks and rough village roads are not suitable. For the full circuit (Colombo, Kandy, Ella, Galle, cultural triangle) the Vezel is a solid choice for 2 to 3 passengers who want more security on mountain roads than a Prius gives.

Five seats, with the rear seat comfortably fitting 2 adults. The boot holds 304 L with seats up — 2 medium suitcases and 2 carry-ons fit well. With the rear seats folded, cargo space jumps to 1,274 L, though you will not fold seats with passengers aboard.
