Toyota Alphard

The Toyota Alphard (AH30 generation) is available in Sri Lanka through Casons (marketed as the Alphard Ex Lounge — Business Class), Malkey, and Lakpura, with Toyota Lanka selling it new. The Vellfire, a closely related luxury variant, is also listed by Casons. Captain seats in the second row recline fully with built-in footrests and extendable armrest tables — on a 5-hour run to Ella they make the journey restful rather than something to get through. Power sliding doors, individual climate controls, privacy curtains, a panoramic glass roof, and USB charging at every seat are standard.

The 3.5L V6 petrol engine runs near-silently at highway speed. Ground clearance is 145 mm — the lowest in the fleet for a vehicle of this size. All main A-roads and the Southern Expressway are fine. On very tight hairpin bends above Ella or Nuwara Eliya, the long wheelbase can make passing slow, though experienced drivers manage it. Keep this vehicle on sealed roads and away from rough tracks entirely.
