Marble Beach sits inside a former military reservation about 5 kilometres north of Trincomalee town, and access requires passing through a navy checkpoint where visitors register. The isolation has kept the beach in near-pristine condition, with water visibility typically exceeding 10 metres and no vendor stalls or beach chairs for hire. The sand is coarse white, the coastline is short at around 400 metres, and a fringing reef 50 metres offshore provides calm conditions for swimming and basic snorkelling. Facilities are minimal: a small canteen sometimes operates near the checkpoint. Bring all food and water. Visitors are turned back after 5:30 PM when the checkpoint closes.
Register at the navy checkpoint with your passport or NIC before entering.
The checkpoint closes at 5:30 PM; plan to leave by 5:00 PM.
Bring all food, water, and sunscreen as no facilities are reliably available.
A tuk-tuk from Trincomalee town takes 15-20 minutes and costs around LKR 300-400.
Best time of day: May to September (eastern dry season)
