Sri Lanka Itinerary: 10 Days - Hill Country and Beaches Honeymoon

Nuwara Eliya, Ella and Mirissa each get two nights, which is what makes this feel like a honeymoon rather than a tour. The Nanu Oya train ride, a private Udawalawe safari and quiet dinners above Mirissa's bay are the fixed points. Sigiriya and Kandy open the trip with the fortress climb and the Temple of the Sacred Tooth.

The journey, day by day

  1. Sigiriya

The trip opens with the drive to Sigiriya, a 200-metre rock citadel rising sheer out of the jungle and built as a royal palace in the 5th century (about 5 hours via Kurunegala and Dambulla, with a lunch stop). Check in for the night.
