Sri Lanka Itinerary: 14 Days - Grand Ceylon Route

Fourteen days arranged so each region gets its due. The ancient cities and Trincomalee's beaches fill the first week, timed for the east's calm season. The second week climbs through Kandy into the tea country, rests three nights at Ella, then descends past Udawalawe's elephants to Unawatuna's swimming bay and Galle Fort, a short run from the airport.

Season

May to October

Best May to September for the Trincomalee leg, the east coast season, though the Unawatuna and Galle finale sees more rain in those months, the south-west monsoon side of the island; Udawalawe's safaris run year-round while Yala's Block 1 and Block 2 close for several weeks most years in the September-October dry season (dates set annually).
